The Western Bay of Plenty Newcomers Network Group hoped that it would be second time lucky for their “Morning at the Mount” activity last week. The previous attempt saw only two intrepid souls, activity leader Margareth Ruffell and Multicultural Tauranga stalwart Ewa Fenn, brave the dismal wet weather for a walk up to the top of the Mount (Mauao).
This time, however, the sun was shining and twelve members of the group showed up at 10:00am for a walk and talk outing around the Mount Basetrack, followed by a leisurely picnic/morning tea/lunch at Pilot Bay. Most people had departed by 2:00pm. Margareth Ruffell, however, found enough energy to walk to the top of the Mount. Obviously, there had been more talking than strenuous walking at the start of the day.
