On 3 December 2015 Multicultural Tauranga's new premises at the Historic Village were officially opened with an event for some 50 invited guests.
| Tauranga City Councillor Steve Morris and Deputy Mayor of Western Bay of Plenty Regional Council Gwenda Merriman were among the guests and had the honour of cutting the ribbon together with Multicultural Tauranga President Barry Reid. After speeches by representatives of Multicultual Tauranga - Secretary Margarete Kraemer, Centre Coordinator Janet Smith and President Barry Reid - Steve Morris and Gwenda Merriman conveyed best wishes from local government. |
The evening was emceed by committee member Margareth Ruffell and included a stage performance consisting of an acrostic poem entitled "Migrants", a song "We are one world" and a speech about teenage migrants, from an Indian born teenager's perspective. The entertainment part concluded with a belly dance performance by Raffaella Cruickshank-Veneziano.
