On her concert tour in New Zealand Korean gayageum player Seunghee Baek slotted in an extra performance in Tauranga on 18 December 2015. She is an accomplished gayageum player who continues the tradition of Korean performing arts in music and dance. She also plays contemporary and avant-garde music.

At the age of ten Seunghee Baek began to learn traditional Korean performing arts. Later she earned both her B.A. and M.A. in gayageum performance from Seoul National University (SNU). Currently she is a doctoral student at SNU College of Music.

Since her professional debut Seunghee Baek has performed numerous solo gayageum recitals in Korea, the U.S.A., Germany, Belgium, Ghana and other countries. In 2014, she was awarded the First Prize by the Korean Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
