In Tauranga the mayor's office holds at least six citizenship ceremonies each year. At each ceremony, some 60 new citizens receive their citizenship certificates and are officially welcomed to Tauranga by the mayor.
Also present at each citizenship ceremony is a member of Multicultural Tauranga. He or she gives a speech to the new New Zealand citizens, and outlines the the role and service range of Multicultural Tauranga. Pictured above is Ewa Fenn, Community Liaison Officer of Multicultural Tauranga.
The ceremony held on 22 September 2016 was the current - and outgoing - mayor's last one. Mayor Stuart Crosby (R, with mayoral chain), who has been head of Tauranga City Council since 2004, was also patron of Multicultural Tauranga. Pictured on the left is Kaumatua Huikakahu Kawe.
