At the Festival of Adult Learning Multicultural Tauranga received a commendation in the Innovative Provider category for providing a number of learning opportunities for migrants.
Another commendation was awarded to Pieter de Zwart as Exceptional Adult Educator for teaching the course Professional Speaking for Migrants, a co-joint initiative between Multicultural Tauranga and Speech New Zealand.
The event was held on Monday night, 3 September 2018, at the Tauranga Council Chambers. It was presided over by Mayor Greg Brownless and hosted by Let’s Learn – Community Education Bay of Plenty. The night was about celebrating and honouring adult learners, tutors, and providers of adult education in the community. The emphasis was on the untold value of community adult education and how it is so much more than upskilling or learning, namely the extraordinary value of connecting, socialising and communicating with like-minded people.
