Multicultural Tauranga - Tauranga Regional Multicultural Council Inc.
Multicultural Tauranga is a charitable, non-profit, non-political, and non-religious community organisation, registered as a charity in New Zealand (Charities Services registration number: CC36898). Our organisation is driven by a dedicated team of volunteers who are committed to promoting, protecting, and advocating for the interests of the diverse communities that make up New Zealand’s multicultural society.
Founded in 1994 as the Bay of Plenty Ethnic Council, our organisation has grown over the years, expanding the range of services and initiatives we offer to support and empower migrant and ethnic communities in the Bay of Plenty.
Multicultural Tauranga is part of a network of 20 Regional Multicultural Councils across New Zealand, and we are connected to national councils representing women, youth, seniors, and business communities. These councils operate under the umbrella of the New Zealand Federation of Multicultural Councils (Multicultural New Zealand), which promotes collaboration between regional councils and advocates for migrants and refugees at local and national political levels.
We operate in accordance with our Constitution, and membership is open to any group, organisation, or individual who wishes to support our mission. Through our work, we aim to foster inclusion, celebrate cultural diversity, and strengthen community connections across Tauranga and the wider Bay of Plenty region.
